Workshop: Tactics, Projecting & Retreat
You’re leading independently outdoors but don’t quite dare to step outside your comfort zone? Not sure how to get your gear back if you can’t finish a route? How do you project hard routes properly and safely? What tricks are there to make it all a bit easier?
What to expect?
We head out with 3–8 participants for a full day (8 hours) at the crag and show you how to approach projecting routes that are hard for you. We cover rope technique tips, as well as the tactical and mental aspects of how to successfully project difficult routes. We also want to take away your fear of retreating from a lead route – that feeling of being unable to complete a route and therefore unable to retrieve your gear from the wall. Confident and safe outside your comfort zone is the motto of this workshop.
Course goal: After this course you’ll have a wide range of rope technique, climbing technique, belaying and tactical tools that you can apply independently depending on the situation. We want to take away your fear of hard routes and we talk through everything that can go wrong and how to avoid it.
What do I need?
You climb relatively regularly in the lead (indoors or outdoors) and are climbing at grade 5a / V or above. You can bring your own gear or use our rental equipment, which is included in the course fee. Rental gear is provided by us on site; climbing shoes are available in limited numbers and on request.
